This recipe will show you how to make cannabis infused candy popcorn in three different flavors
Keyword: Infused candy popcorn
Materials
- 3 bags popcorn
- 1½ cups sugar
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup Karo syrup
- 6 tbsp canna butter
- food coloring and food flavoring of your choice
Instructions
- Pop three bags of popcorn and set it to the side in three different bowls. You can definitely cut this recipe in half if you're making a smaller amount of popcorn.
- Bring up 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of Karo syrup to a slight boil.
- Add 6 tablespoons of canna butter and stir until combine.
- Stir the mixture on medium low heat for an additional three to five minutes.
- Add 11/2 cups of sugar and stir until combined. I use one cup of regular sugar and 1/2 cup of canna sugar. I love to bring it up a notch if I can, but you don't have to use canna sugar. If you only have regular sugar, it's fine and your popcorn will still pack a punch.
- Pour the syrup in three different mixing bowls unless you're using only one color.
- Drop a few drops of white food coloring into the serve and use a whisk to mix the color until you get a pale white color.
- Add your food coloring. Keep playing with the white and the color until you achieve the color that you want.
- After mixing color, add a dram of the flavoring and stir until combined. Make sure you add a little in the beginning because the flavor is very strong and you don't want to add too much because then you'll have an after taste on your popcorn. Lor-Ann flavoring is recommended for this recipe. Kool-Aid flavoring is also an alternative – 1 pack per eight ounces of syrup.
- Before you coat your popcorn, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and separate popcorn into three large bowls. If you're using more than one color, you have to work pretty fast before the syrup starts to thicken. But if this happens, stick it in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds until it loosens back up.
- Once you have all the candy flavors mixed, slowly drizzle the syrup over the popcorn and carefully fold the popcorn until it's almost coated. Do not stir the popcorn because you will break the popcorn into small pieces.
- Pour the popcorn evenly on a sheet pan and put it in the oven for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, take it out of the oven and use a spatula to coat any pieces with the melted syrup in the pan.
- Put the popcorn back in the oven for another five minutes and repeat this process with each color you have.
- After five minutes, take the popcorn out of the oven, let it sit for 15 minutes to cool then enjoy
Notes
👉🏼The popcorn will be wet when you remove it from the oven. The candy will harden up after it cools....not in the oven
